The Gallatin River
The Gallatin River is located just west of Bozeman and is known for it’s abundance of fish and it’s unbelievable scenery.  Starting about 70 miles south of Bozeman and flowing North following U.S. Highway 191 most of its length, the Gallatin has easy access and is a great choice for wade fishing all year long.

Current Conditions & Fishing Strategy
01/27/2012 The better fishing on the Gallatin River has been here in the valley as the water is a bit warmer than in the canyon. The fishing has been very good lately with the mild weather. If you go low, watch for ice build-up along the banks. Small beadhead nymphs (sizes #14 thru #18) seem to be the best producers. There have been a few reports of some better sized fish being caught on size #6 and #8 stonefly nymph imitations in the "Canyon" section of the river.
