Q.
Do we need to make advance reservations for our trip with the Rivers
Edge?
A.
Many times you can walk into our shop one day and book a trip for
the next. There are also lots of times when we’re
booked solid for weeks on end. Our advise is that if you’d
be disappointed to find we couldn’t accommodate you, then by
all means make advance reservations. |
Q.
When is the best time of year to come and fish in Montana?
A.
This is a tough question to answer without more information. We
have excellent fishing just about year round. However, there are
a number of things to consider when planning your trip. Are you trying
to be here for one of our better known hatches? Ae you interested
in a particular type of water, such as a Spring Creek or one of our
Western Blue Ribbon Trout Streams? Are you new to the sport? Is weather
a consideration? Are you a dry fly angler or will you switch to nymphs
and streamers as conditions dictate? The more information you give
us the better we can answer this question. |
Q. Is there a deposit required?
A.
Yes. We require a deposit of $200.00 per guide, per day to hold
your reservation. This deposit is fully refundable should you have
to cancel, as long as we receive your cancellation not less than
14 days prior to your trip. |
Q. What equipment should I bring a long?
A.
This will depend on when your trip is scheduled. Once you book
a trip with us, we will be delighted to furnish you with an equipment
list customized for the time of year you’ll be fishing with
us. |
|
Q.
What’s included in the
price of the trip?
A. The guide fee includes the guide, transportation from our shop
to the river and back, the car shuttle on float trips, streamside
lunches, beverages (excluding alcoholic beverages), instruction,
rental equipment at no charge and all the fun you can possibly have.
Not included are your fishing license, terminal tackle, or gratuity.
|
Q.
What if I don’t have any
equipment?
A. We have a good supply of excellent rental equipment, rods, reels,
lines and waders which are available for you at no extra charge on
all of our guide trips.
|
Q. What are the license requirements to fish in Montana?
A. The state of Montana requires that anyone 15 years or older must
have a license to fish. Please note that social security numbers
are required to obtain the license, so come prepared with this information.
Without one we cannot issue a license.
|
Q. What’s the best way to
assure a great trip?
A.
Plan ahead, communicate with us on what it is you’d like
to experience, practice your casting a little before you get here,
be flexible in terms of where and what style of fly fishing you use.
If the fish are on the surface, we prefer dry flyfishing, however,
if nothing is happening on top, we don’t hesitate to use a
nymph or streamer. Above all, don’t get so focused on the fishing
that you forget to stop, look around and enjoy what Montana fly fishing
is all about. See you at the Rivers Edge!
